144: Don’t Hold Back On Your Dreams
A typical human being dreams an average of about 4 to 6 dreams per night. If you can experience at least four dreams a night, why is it that you’re still stuck on that one idea that failed to materialize? How you want your life to look doesn’t have to be constant. Things change, and new passions are discovered daily. Don’t limit yourself to a certain number of objectives just because that’s what society dictates. If you feel like the path you’re currently on is not the right one for you, by all means, change it. The prospect will seem daunting but trust me; you won’t regret it.
Don’t Hold Back On Your Dreams – 02:00
You’ll spend an average of about 75% of your life working. If that’s the case, why are you not spending 75% of your life doing what you love? Not everybody gets to live the life they’re meant to live, but everybody can change their current situation. For me, it’s now five years since it took the first steps into my entrepreneurial journey, and I’ve got to admit, it hasn’t been easy. Nevertheless, I’m always enthusiastic about mornings and all the things that will occupy my time. You know why? I love what I do, and every new day presents a unique opportunity to keep on doing what I love.
Let Go of The Fear – 05:34
Quitting your job and venturing into the unknown is the hardest thing you’ll ever do. But, if you’re not happy with your job, why keep doing it? I’m not trying to convince you that quitting is the right thing for you. What I mean is that the scary prospect of what the future holds is just one decision away. Nobody knows what the future holds, but you’ll never know until you take that first step. So, if you have an idea that keeps you up at night and you genuinely believe that the dream is right for you and that it will make you happy, go for it. It might take some time before it finally bears fruit, but the journey and the eventual goal will be worth it. Simply start by convincing yourself that it’s achievable and set a target goal. A dream will always be a dream until you take action.
Make it Happen – 08:38
Dreaming is easy. You’ll have this perfect mental picture of how you’d like your life to be like, but that’s just about it. You’ll be happy in your dream but not in real life. Stop dreaming and start taking action. As I said, the first step will be the toughest, but that should only make you stronger. However, making it happen still doesn’t cut it. What counts as successful is making it happen consistently. Put in the work and consistently show up; everything else will take care of itself.
Forget About The Naysayers – 10:54
There will always be naysayers who’ll tell you that what you’re about to do is crazy or that it won’t work. They might even have backing evidence and concrete proof that your dreams are impossible to archive. Please block out that noise. We’re not all the same. What didn’t work for someone else does not necessarily mean that it won’t work for you. The person you should consult is yourself. Have a conversation with yourself and ask yourself if what you’re about to do makes sense, will it make you happy, how long is it going to take, and how much effort is needed. Once you do that, you eradicate the internal conflict that would otherwise arise from listening to other people’s opinions.
The People Less Qualified Than You Are Doing More Than You Do – 14:54
There’s always that one person who seems less qualified than you but is doing more than you do. The difference between you and them is that they weren’t afraid to pursue it and their experience gives them the confidence to keep pushing forward. Once you get past the fear and self-doubt about your dreams and ambitions, make the daunting leap and just do it. Some of the most miserable people in the world are the ones that never overcame their fear and are now mad at themselves for not making the leap of faith. My message for you today is that you have the power to turn that dream into reality. You just have to believe in yourself.
