Are You Choosing Life Or Are You Letting Life Happen to You? – 01:03

Let me ask you this, are you choosing life, or are you letting life simply happen to you? This question may sound simple, but I find that many people struggle to come up with a straightforward answer. What’s even more interesting is that many people who claim to choose life often choose certain aspects of their life because of external influence.

So, here’s the thing; over the past couple of months, I’ve been going over the highs and the lows that have so far defined my life. And what I’ve found is that the things I choose to pursue often come to fruition. For example, I once chose success, and the way things have been shaping thus far, I’d like to think of myself as a success. Another great example is I chose happiness and peace. And while I had to get help from my therapist for this bit, the results have been phenomenal. I am far more peaceful and happy than I’ve ever been.

Where am I going with this? I want you to learn to check in with yourself. Every time something pops up in life, be your first mental point of origin. Do what feels right for you first before adding third-party influences. Don’t get me wrong, yes, it takes some practice, and it will definitely feel scary at first. However, once you understand that deeper process of becoming familiar with how your body reacts and then learning to trust what it tells you, oh boy! Life becomes so much easier. But it all starts with choosing yourself. Let no one call you selfish because self-care starts and ends with you.

You Are the Sum of Your Actions – 04:40

This might sound harsh or a little out of tune, but you are where you are primarily because of the choices you made and the action you took at some point in life. Let that sink in for a second. Yes, whatever is happening around you at this very moment all comes down to you. The place you live, the person you’re dating or are married to, the job you have, the amount of money you have in the bank. Everything’s a sum of your decisions and actions.

That said, why aren’t you taking control of your life? Why do you get mad when someone tells you you’re too young, too old, or too skinny to be doing this or that? I’m a firm believer that whenever someone paints a picture around me, I don’t need to defend myself. I let them have their judgment. It’s okay because, at the end of the day, everyone has their own perspective. And as long as I accept and only care about my perspective, it doesn’t matter.

My message for you today is that you’ve got the power to choose the type of life you want to live. Yes, there will always be external factors that influence some things that happen in our lives. And no, we can’t control everything that life throws at us. But what we can control is how we choose to react. So, when life throws sadness at you, choose happiness. When life throws cowardice at you, choose bravery. It will always come down to what you choose.
