Change is good. In fact, change is everywhere and happens every day. It can be as major as changing careers or as subtle as taking a different route to work or moving the furniture in your house. I know you already know this, but change is also inevitable and scary. And as humans, we are creatures of habit, so we don’t always like things that mess up our peace and security.
Whether you like change or dislike what it does to your life, I believe we need to embrace it. It may impose better habits upon you, but it can also be stressful, destructive, and even career-ending. The good news is that you have control over how you anticipate and react to it. The even better news is that once you embrace it, you’ll adopt a whole new mindset. A mindset that will help you stop pursuing things that aren’t working, start doing things that could work better, and keep doing the things that work the best.
Why I Changed The Way I Run My Business – 01:05
Change is the only constant in life. You probably already know this, but I won’t stop saying this, change is good. Embrace it. The reason I enjoy change so much is maybe because I’ve been changing all my life. I had to move when I went to college. I changed from an academic geek into an entrepreneur not so long ago. And now, this year, I’m changing some very key aspects of my business. Yes, I am changing my personal brand to put my business, Evingerlean Worldwide, at the forefront.
But why would I change something that’s already so successful? I believe that life begins at the end of your comfort zone. And it’s not like I was slipping into the comfort zone with my business or something. It’s just that 2022 is the year Eve Hudson becomes more than just a speaker. 2022 is the year I step into the unknown and be recognized as a brand, as a business, and as a force that’s out to make an impact on the world.
Embrace the Disruption – 07:03
Let me ask you this, do you like change? I know the vast majority of you said no. But change is good. In fact, humans crave change. They want it so bad that they set time for change every year. Take vacations, for example. Why do you think people take vacations and travel to unknown destinations? Well, we travel because we want a change from our surroundings, from the normal routines, in favor of new experiences, even if it’s just for a while.
So, here’s the thing; if you feel like you need to make changes in your life, make them. If you believe the grass is greener on the other side, leap to the other side. But make it about you. Don’t let it be about your partner, your boss, your kids, or your friends. Be a little selfish and do what feels right for you.
However, I also believe there’s nothing wrong with staying where you are and not changing. If something’s working for you and you’re okay with how things are, then don’t change. Take me, for example. I don’t see the need to change my hairstyle, so I don’t think there’s someone or something that can convince me to make changes to how I look.
Remember, for change to be beneficial, you must be ready to absorb and incorporate new behaviors and accompanying mindsets. It won’t be easy but if you really want it, go get it because, at the end of the day, nothing stings more than missed opportunities.
