Comparison is a thief of joy. But we’re human, and so it’s normal sometimes to compare ourselves to others. However, comparing yourself to others will only leave you feeling frustrated and anxious. Furthermore, it doesn’t help in creating the life you want. It instead takes away irreplaceable time and energy that could have been better spent elsewhere. Here’s the thing; there will always be someone more intelligent, attractive, or successful than you. The trick is understanding the unique value that you bring to the table. Remember that nothing and nobody is perfect; everything is special in its own way. So, instead of believing that the grass might be greener on the other side, try and nurture the grass that’s on your side of the fence. After all, the grass is greenest where it’s being properly cared for.
Comparison is a Thief of Joy – 01:10
You shouldn’t be comparing yourself to others. I know it, you know it, yet here we are, scrolling through social media, comparing our lives to people we barely even know. Here’s the thing, the number of things in which you can compare yourself to others is infinite. Unfortunately, nothing good ever comes from comparisons. The only thing you can expect back is unhappiness and misery. All comparison does is keep you focused on what other people are doing instead of what you should be doing to improve your life.
I know we are all human, and sometimes we just can’t help but compare ourselves to others. However, the next time you compare yourself to someone else, always remember that the more you focus on their path and not your own, the more you lose control of your life. So, shift your focus and instead compare yourself to where you were yesterday. You might not have much, but at least you’re on the right path and moving towards achieving the life you deserve.
The Grass Isn’t Always Greener On The Other Side – 07:01
As an entrepreneur, I’ve heard this so many times: Eve you’re so lucky; you can do anything you want. You’ve got plenty of time with yourself. And while it makes sense to want to be in somebody else’s shoes, especially if they’re successful, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. And here’s the thing, no matter how amazing your life is, someone will always seem to be doing better than you currently are. It’s never enough; humans are programmed to continually search for more. We are never satisfied and are always looking for a much more comfortable and happier life. But like I said, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the fence. Take me, for example. I might be doing well in my business, but I’ve struggled with anxiety attacks for as long as I can remember.
Most people tend to think that they need to have a better job to feel successful or a new relationship to be happy. But the truth is, these thoughts will only make it feel like your life sucks, yet your life is probably okay the way it is. Remember, you are good exactly where you are. The grass ain’t greener on the other side; it’s perfect exactly where you are.
